I am Running for Election May 18, 2010
I am running for Beaverton City Council, so I can expand my service to the City of Beaverton.
I have thoroughly enjoyed working as the chair of the Visioning Advisory Committee and look forward to continuing in that role through 2010. I have issued the following press release.

Civic Leader Mark Fagin Running for Beaverton City Council
Beaverton, OR - Mark Fagin, a civic volunteer and local business owner, is running for Beaverton City Council Position 2. The primary election will be held on May 18th.
"My desire to run for City Council began with my work on the visioning process," said Mr. Fagin. "I feel compelled to run now, for this seat, because I see issues with the current make-up of the Council. Beaverton needs a City Council that acts professionally, responsibly, and with leadership, agreeing to disagree but carrying on the work of the City without acrimony or controversy for controversy's sake. I will bring to the Council my determination, my skills and my leadership ability, to carry the vision of the citizens of Beaverton into action."
Mr. Fagin serves as Chairman of the city's Visioning Advisory Committee, overseeing the development of the Beaverton Community Vision and its Action Plan. As chairman, he works hand in hand with a wide range of citizens, businesses, volunteers and city partners and has heard what they have to say.
"The citizens of Beaverton have expressed an ambitious vision for the city, and that vision can only be carried out with enthusiastic, responsible, and skilled leadership from the City Council," he said.
As the owner of a local business - selling products used in the manufacturing of semiconductors, solar cells and silicon- Mr. Fagin has firsthand experience dealing with the challenges of this uncertain economy.
"The skills I have developed in these times have prepared me for the important and often difficult leadership decisions Beaverton needs from a City Councilor," said Mr. Fagin. "I've been working through real world business problems, fighting to keep revenue up and expenditures in line as our customers have experienced layoffs and shut downs. I look forward to helping our business community grow and bring more jobs to Beaverton residents."
Mr. Fagin has also given his time coaching girls and boys soccer with Somerset West, and working in leadership roles planning and participating in youth programs. "It was important to me to raise my family in a safe community with good schools, good youth athletic programs and culturally diverse opportunities. I have volunteered my time as a coach, a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader, and as a member of the Visioning committee because I believe we must each contribute to maintain a healthy community."
"Beaverton is a big small city, with many ongoing and new initiatives, projects and services to manage. I look forward to adding my experience to that of our Mayor and the other Councilors. I will work professionally and proactively as an elected leader, which is what the people of Beaverton deserve," said Mr. Fagin.
This will be Mr. Fagin's first run for public office. He looks forward to hearing from Beaverton residents about their hopes and dreams for the city and any questions they might have about his vision.
